Mackenzie....simply Mackenzie

Mackenzie Goodman has been working with me for the past two years. I completely adore her.

She is a brilliant photographer and will continue to be one of my second shooters, but she will now be our official Pet Portrait photographer.  Animals love Mackenzie. Mackenzie loves animals. It's perfect. We'll be posting some of her work soon.

Here are some photos of Mackenzie, along with some interesting and not-so-interesting things about her.

Trip to Flagstaff

This was a much needed road trip for all of us.
I took Mackenzie (my second photographer) and Cameron (my new assistant) and Johnny (my son) up to Flagstaff this week.

The weather was perfect!
I took a total of two photos that day because Johnny needed my attention at all times. Don't get me wrong; this is a great thing. I don't mind a break from my camera.

Here are photos that Mackenzie and Cameron took.

We took the ski lift up to Snowbowl. Scary and amazing when you're holding a two year old in your lap. But he did great. He sat there waving to people that passed us on the other side. "Hi! I'm Johnny! I'm flying."

At the top of the mountain....I think the altitude makes me a little crazy.

Johnny has a secret crush on Mackenzie now. He calls her "Ackenzie". "look at me Ackenzie!"

Everyone needs a mustache on a stick. It's pretty much THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE WORLD.

Mackenzie and I.....pure awesomeness.

Lance and Jane: The Engagement

Lance and Jane are the cutest!

We met this morning, at the Pinnacle Peak Country Club. We did a couple of portraits outside, just before the summer heat had a chance to get the best of us.

Then we headed inside for some iced tea!

Jane had her hair and makeup done by Holli with Kensington Makeup. BEAUTIFUL, as always!

Once her hair and makeup were done, Mackenzie and I set up a "first look". Lance was adorable when she walked through these doors....all I heard was "Wow....you look beautiful" (and then a couple more "wows").

Honestly, I love indoor portraits. I think there is magical light in every room! You just need to know when and where to find it.

Congratulations Lance and Jane! See you soon!

Patrick and Crystal: The Reception

Patrick and Crystal were married in Lake Tahoe a few weeks ago. I didn't photograph that event, but I had the absolute pleasure of capturing their reception at Dolce Salon in Peoria. This was a beautiful event, thanks to the brilliant vendors involved (and a mutual friend, Angie).

The beautiful bride:

This was such a great idea! Cicely, from Life Design Event Planning, set up a theater in one of the suites and played a photo slideshow from Patrick and Crystal's wedding in Lake Tahoe.

And they had popcorn to munch on during the 'movie'! Everything was perfect!

After each screening, they had a photo booth for the guests. It was a blast and I freaked out about the wallpaper.
I want it in my house.....everywhere!

The chandeliers! I almost forgot!
AMAZING! I felt like I was in Paris again!

The first dance was so sweet. Patrick is a fantastic dancer.

I have a son....I can TOTALLY relate to how Patrick's mom must be feeling here.

Patrick launched the garter with ease and style.

Crystal's toss was perfect....guess who caught the bouquet? (scroll down)

Crystal is 5 months pregnant....she has that gorgeous pregnancy glow!
I love how they announced the gender of the baby. They handed out rattle-shaped cookies decorated in blue! It was a surprise to everyone.....even the grandparents! I love surprises!

Here's the adorable and wonderful Cicely, with Life Design Event Planning, passing out cookies with the bride:

Congratulations Patrick and Crystal!
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your celebration.
Blessings for a long and happy life together.....all three of you!

Jamie and Anna's Wedding

Jamie and Anna had the most incredible backyard wedding on July 1st! They rounded up some of the valley's best wedding vendors and had their closest friends and family there to celebrate their love.

Holli, owner of Kensington Makeup, did Anna's hair and makeup. Not only is Holli one of the sweetest artists I know, but she is unbelievably talented.

Dogs, Magnum and Diesel, are very special to Anna and Jamie....scroll down to see their sweet dogs!

Message to the bride, from the groom:

Flowers by: EnDearing Floral Design (Jacque is fantastic!)

Cake by: Cakes by Elizabeth....I am totally using her for my 10 year wedding anniversary party!! She's the best!

The GORGEOUS bride:

One of my favorite shots: jumping on the bed! Who doesn't love to do that?!?!

Catered by: All About Catering
Their food is so incredibly good.....some of the best I've ever had!

Slacker!

What a blogging-slacker I am! I'm sorry for taking so long to post something....anything!
This summer was going to be my "Summer of George" (for all of you Seinfeld fans). But things have been busier than I expected. This is great, of course. I'd rather keep my two year old busy and keep my mind off of the summer Phoenix heat.

Here are some photos from our trip to California last month:

Johnny, my son, calls Mickey Mouse "Hot Dog".  (from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song: 'HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DIGGITY DOG")

Best day of the entire trip: Flying kites near the ocean. It was magical AND awesome.

No explanation for this. Just laugh and move on.

"Bye mommy!"

Johnny loves....no, obsesses about trains. He would have stayed on there all day long if we had let him.

Eric and Erin - Engagement

Eric and Erin! You guys are 'full of awesomeness'.
While I would have loved to fly out to San Francisco for your engagement portraits, I think it turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon at The Wigwam.
This is exactly why I love engagement portraits. I loved discovering your personalities, what kind of pets you have and why you fell in love with each other. Not only are you incredibly beautiful people, you are also genuinely kind and hilarious! I had such a great time with you and look forward to your wedding in September.

Until then:
